10-Day Private Tour from Prague — Vienna, Salzburg, Hallstatt & Innsbruck

Ten days through the heart of Austria. Vienna, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Innsbruck — private guide throughout, trains for the long stretches, private car for the day trips. From €5,100 per group.

Vienna for three days. Salzburg for three, with a morning in Hallstatt and an afternoon in the Salzkammergut. Then Innsbruck and the Tyrolean Alps. Then back to Vienna, and home.

This is Austria taken at the right pace — not rushed, not padded, with a private guide who knows each place and can give the journey the kind of context it deserves.

In December, the route passes through four of the finest Christmas markets in Central Europe. Not as a detour — as part of the programme.

THE ROUTE:

Day 1 — Vienna: Arrival
Day 2 — Vienna: Hofburg, St. Stephen's Cathedral, Ringstrasse walking tour + Christkindlmarkt am Rathausplatz (one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe — 150 stalls around the illuminated City Hall)
Day 3 — Vienna: Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market, Naschmarkt, free afternoon
Day 4 — Vienna → Salzburg: Train transfer, Salzburg walking tour (Altstadt, Mirabell, Getreidegasse) + Christkindlmarkt am Domplatz (one of the oldest Christmas markets in Austria, in front of the Cathedral)
Day 5 — Hallstatt Day Trip: Early departure, Hallstätter See, bone chapel, back to Salzburg. Hallstatt in December is quiet and extraordinary — snow on the mountains, the lake still, none of the summer crowds.
Day 6 — Salzkammergut: Lakes, alpine meadows, St. Gilgen or Bad Ischl — full regional day
Day 7 — Salzburg → Innsbruck/Seefeld: Transfer, afternoon in Innsbruck old town + Innsbruck Christmas Market (the Golden Roof square, Tyrolean decorations, mulled wine at altitude)
Day 8 — Innsbruck & Seefeld: Goldenes Dachl, Hofburg Innsbruck, Tyrolean mountains
Day 9 — Seefeld → Vienna: Train return, evening arrival
Day 10 — Departure from Vienna

CHRISTMAS MARKETS ON THIS ROUTE:

✦ Vienna — Christkindlmarkt am Rathausplatz: the iconic market in front of the illuminated City Hall. 150 stalls, skating rink, mulled wine, handmade ornaments.
✦ Vienna — Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market: a more elegant, quieter alternative in the palace courtyard. Baroque backdrop, fewer crowds.
✦ Salzburg — Christkindlmarkt am Domplatz: one of the oldest Christmas markets in Austria, held in the cathedral square since the 17th century. Surrounded by Baroque architecture, atmospheric and genuinely festive.
✦ Innsbruck — Christkindlmarkt: several markets in the old town, the best centred on the Golden Roof square. Alpine setting, local crafts, Tyrolean Glühwein.

TRANSPORT:

The main city-to-city transfers use fast, comfortable Austrian trains. Day trips from Salzburg — Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut — use a private car with driver, since these are not well connected by rail and time matters. The Salzburg–Innsbruck leg is also by private car. All logistics are handled — your guide coordinates everything.

PRICING:

✦ Up to 4 persons — from €5,100 per group
✦ Up to 8 persons — from €5,900 per group

Included: private guide for 9 days, private transport for all day trips and the Salzburg–Innsbruck transfer, guide's train tickets.

Not included: client accommodation (book independently — strongly recommend booking Vienna and Salzburg hotels well in advance for December), client train tickets (Vienna–Salzburg ~€50–80/person, Seefeld–Vienna ~€60–90/person), museum entrance fees, meals.

BEST TIMES:

✦ December — Christmas markets in Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck. Hallstatt in snow. One of the most atmospheric times to travel Austria.
✦ April–May — Mild weather, manageable crowds, green Salzkammergut.
✦ September–October — Autumn colour, excellent light, fewer visitors than summer.

No prepayment required. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure.
